MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday night maintained the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) status for Metro Manila from Sept. 1 to 30 as recommended by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).
In his public address, Duterte said that aside from the National Capital Region (NCR), the provinces of Bulacan and Batangas in Luzon and the cities of Tacloban and Bacolod in Visayas would also be under GCQ for a month.
Iligan City was put under stricter modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) to stem the rising number of new coronavirus cases.
The rest of the country are under more relaxed modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).
The government is implementing one-month community quarantine period instead of two-week durations it imposed in the past.
COVID-19 case tally in the country stands at 220,819, including 157,562 recoveries and 3,558 deaths. - PND, FJJ
