MANILA – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has formed an inter-agency body to prepare for the Philippines’ participation in Green Expo 2027, an international horticultural exposition to be held in Yokohama, Japan.
Under Administrative Order No. 41 dated Feb. 4, the president designated the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Tourism to lead the Philippine Organizing Committee.
The panel also includes the Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Science and Technology, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, and the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions.
Green Expo 2027 will run from March to September 2027 under the theme “Scenery of the Future for Happiness.” The event is recognized by global bodies overseeing international expositions and horticultural shows.
The Philippines is expected to use the platform to highlight its biodiversity, sustainable farming practices, agri-fishery products, green technologies, eco-tourism initiatives and cultural heritage.
Marcos said joining the exposition supports the country’s development goals, particularly efforts to strengthen agriculture, promote sustainability and advance science and innovation.
He called on government agencies, local governments and private sector partners to support the country’s participation in the international event. - PCO, FJJ
