Filipino Tourists Flood Japan in January

TOKYO – Filipino tourists flocked to Japan in record numbers in January, marking a 91.4 percent spike in arrivals compared to the same month a year earlier, reaching approximately 56,800, as reported by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO).

This figure also surpassed the number recorded in January 2019 before the onset of the pandemic.

The Philippines holds the eighth position in Japan’s market for visitor arrivals, following South Korea, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, the U.S.A., Australia, and Thailand.

Japan welcomed an approximate total of 2,688,100 foreign visitors last month. - Florenda Corpuz
