More Than 300,000 Japanese Tourists Visit Philippines in 2023

MANILA – The Department of Tourism (DOT) reported that a total of 305,580 Japanese tourists visited the Philippines in the past year, according to a news release.

From Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2023, the country welcomed 5,450,557 foreign visitors, with Japanese tourists constituting 5.61 percent of the total, as stated by the DOT.

The tourism department also recorded more than PHP 480 billion in international tourism receipts for the same period.

Japan secured the third spot in the Philippines’ top tourism source markets, trailing behind South Korea with 1,439,336 visitors and the United States with 903,299 visitors.
