Philippine Embassy Warns Filipinos in Japan of Rising Influenza Cases

TOKYO – The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo issued an advisory Wednesday urging Filipinos residing in or traveling to Japan to take precautions as influenza cases continue to rise.

“Dahil sa pagtaas ng mga kaso ng influenza o sakit na trangkaso sa Japan, hinihikayat po namin ang ating mga kababayan na maging maingat (Due to the rise in influenza or flu cases in Japan, we encourage our fellow Filipinos to take precautions),” it said on its website.

Filipinos in Japan are advised to wear face masks, particularly in crowded areas and on public transportation, to reduce the risk of infection. The Embassy also urged individuals to stay updated with public health advisories and to remain at home if feeling unwell or experiencing cold symptoms.

Additionally, Filipinos planning to visit Japan are encouraged to secure travel insurance in case of a medical emergency.
