TOKYO – The De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers will carry the Philippine flag as they compete for the first time in this year’s World University Basketball Series (WUBS), scheduled to take place from Aug. 10 to 12 at the Yoyogi National Stadium Second Gymnasium.
In the previous two editions of the tournament, the Ateneo Blue Eagles represented the country, winning the inaugural championship in 2022 and finishing fourth last year.
The Green Archers, who clinched the Season 86 championship in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), will be led by MVP Kevin Quiambao, along with standout player Mike Phillips, among others, under head coach Topex Robinson.
Also set to participate in the champions league-style tournament is last year’s tournament winner, Chinese Taipei’s National Chengchi University (NCCU), along with Japan’s Hakuoh University and Nippon Sport Science University, Korea University, Indonesia’s Perbanas Institute, the Japan University Select Team, and Australia’s University of Sydney. - Florenda Corpuz
