Filipino Chocolate Brand Auro Beats Japan’s Meiji in International Choco Awards

MANILA/TOKYO – Auro Chocolate, an artisanal bean-to-bar brand from the Philippines took home five golds in the International Chocolate Awards – Asia Pacific Division held in Pingtung, Taiwan on Oct. 12.

It bagged the Best in Competition and Overall Winner titles in the Plain/Origin Milk Chocolate Bar category for its 50% Regalo - Single Varietal - Milk Chocolate beating Meiji’s THE Chocolate Brazil Cacao55, which won silver.

The internationally awarded Filipino chocolate brand also bagged gold prizes in the Chocolate Maker, Growing Country, and Direct Traded categories.

“Wow. What a true privilege it is to do what we love. It is always our goal to keep learning and improving so that we may keep pushing quality Filipino-made chocolate forward to represent on the world stage. Founded in 2015 by Mark Ocampo and Kelly Go, Auro Chocolate was launched in May 2017. It is the first chocolate brand from the Philippines that opened an independent store in Japan (Frenity House 1-17-7 Uehara, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo 151-0064). - Florenda Corpuz
