Pinoy Film ‘Verdict’ to Compete at Tokyo FILMeX

TOKYO – Raymund Ribay Gutierrez’s debut feature film “Verdict” is among the 10 films competing at this year’s Tokyo FILMex. The festival runs Nov. 23 to Dec. 1 at Toho Cinemas in Hibiya and Yurakucho City Hall.

The crime-thriller, which stars Max Eigenmann and the late Kristoffer King, is executive produced by award-winning filmmaker Brillante Mendoza. It tells the story of an abused wife named Joy, who files a domestic violence case against her husband Dante.

“Verdict” won the Special Jury Prize in the Horizons (Orizzonti) section of the 76th Venice Film Festival. It is the Philippines’ entry to the International Feature Film category of the 2020 Oscars. - Florenda Corpuz
