TOKYO – The Japanese government on Tuesday banned new entries into Japan by non-resident foreigners from around the world in an attempt to prevent the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the country.

MANILA – Fully vaccinated Filipinos and foreign nationals with or without negative PCR test taken 72 hours prior to departure from Japan are required to undergo facility-based quarantines, swabbing and self-monitoring for COVID-19 symptoms.

MANILA/TOKYO – Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Wednesday pledged to continue to support the Philippine government in addressing the novel coronavirus pandemic.

MANILA – The Japanese government through UNICEF Philippines donated PhP36 million worth of cold chain equipment to the country to help strengthen its novel coronavirus vaccination.
