MANILA – Close to 100,000 Japanese tourists visited the Philippines last year, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said in a news release on Monday.
From the country’s full reopening of borders in February until Dec. 31, a total of 2.02 million foreign tourists arrived in the country, according to the DOT. Out of these numbers, 99,557 were Japanese visitors.
Japan placed sixth in the Philippines top tourism source market next to the US (505,089), South Korea (428,014), Australia (137,974), Canada (121,413), and the UK (101,034).
Meanwhile, 628,445 overseas Filipinos also paid a visit to the country. - Florenda Corpuz
